Sprehe Information Management Associates provides consulting services in enterprise information management, working principally in the federal marketplace.. The firm advises federal agencies concerning the collection, processing, dissemination, storage and disposition of information. It also assists companies that deal with the federal government as customer or data provider. Issues the firm specializes in include electronic records management, strategic planning for enterprise information management, information dissemination policy, and electronic dissemination of information. The firm possesses expertise in survey organization and design, questionnaire and interview design, and statistical analysis.  The company co-presented an annual two-day conference on federal electronic records management from 1995 to 2005.

CHAIR, AIIM International C-30 Standards Committee on Integrated EDMS/ERMS. Dr. Sprehe was Chairman of the AIIM Integrated EDMS/ERMS Committee.  The purpose of the committee, whose membership was open to all interested parties, was to develop Integrated Functional Requirements for Electronic Document Management Systems and Electronic Records Management Systems.  AIIM's C-30 Committee has now been disbanded.The Committee produced two reports:

Assisted the Smithsonian Institution Archives by preparing a brochure for distribution to SI staff on treatment of email records and by advising on capture and retention of email with long term historical value. 2001

Senior Consultant to SRA International on project to design, implement, and test an integrated electronic document management and electronic records management system for the Environmental Protection Agency. 2001-2002

Senior Consultant to Grant Thornton on Privacy-Related Research and Analysis and Information Resources Management Services for the U.S. General Accounting Office.  2001-2002.

Senior Consultant to SRA International on study sponsored by National Archives and Records Administration titled Information Gathering, Analysis and Report on Current Recordkeeping and Records Use within the Federal Government. 2000-2001

Update of Privacy and FOIA notices at the Peace Corps.   Together with Robert Gellman, rewrote and updated all Federal Register notices, regulations, and internal directives pertaining to privacy and freedom of information at the Peace Corps. 

Principal Co-investigator (with Prof. Charles McClure, Syracuse University) on research study to develop guidelines for records management on state and federal agency websites. Final report available on Internet. 1997-98. This report formed the basis for NARA's website guidance to federal agencies in 2003.

Author of several exclusive reports for IDC Government, Inc.Federal Electronic Records and the Internet Environment. January 1997; Federal Information Policy: 1994. January 1995; and 1993: The Year in Federal Information Policy: Events and Commentary, January 1994.

Completed study for the Defense Technical Information Service concerning public access policy issues affecting DTIC, concentrating on the implications of changes in the Freedom of Information Act, changes in copyright law and practice, and changes arising from the Information Infrastructure Task Force. As outgrowth of the study, wrote and published "Does the Federal Government Need an A-130 for STI?" Government Information Quarterly, Vol. 12, No. 2, 1995, pp. 213-223.

Completed, together with Sarah T. Kadec, an Automation Training Needs Assessment for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. 1992-1993.

Author or co-author of over 150 professional journal article publications and several books in the fields of federal information policy, statistical policy, demography, and the sociology of education.
